Precious Girls Enjoying the Beach

Brother Raju is with several girls who are enjoying the waves coming in at the Marina Beach in Chennai. This is considered one of the longest naturally sandy beaches in the world (more than 5 miles long), but it is also a very dangerous beach, with close to 5 people dying each month on this beach from drowning. People may not realize that it becomes deep very quickly, and has a strong undercurrent. Brother Raju and a couple of other brothers were mostly on the ocean side of the children just in case. Praise the Lord for His continual protection over the children's lives!

Happy Birthday Sameera!

Sameera turned 12 this Monday (the 15th). Sisters Soniya (left, 12) and Divya (9) are giving her some cake, Soniya & Divya's little sister Kavya (6) is behind Divya's arm; they are not related to the birthday girl. Sameera is a precious girl, but please pray for her. Surrounded by Muslim influences and intimidation (in her own household also), Sameera has not been coming to prayers or Sunday School in recent weeks.

Quizzing the Children

Brother Raju separated the children into 2 groups, and is quizzing them concerning a message which they had just heard. This is a morning prayer meeting with children and adults who gathered in this village for some outdoor meetings at night. Many or most of the people and children you see stayed in the church during these 3 days.

Pray for An Open Heart

"Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped GOD. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul." Acts 16:14
We need to avoid names in this situation, but we minister regularly with the mother on the right and her son next to her. Because this mother has come to Christ, she has been separated from her daughter (middle) for nearly 4 years (in a Muslim home). Surely in answer to prayer, a few months ago this girl suddenly began having a big desire to see her mother. That desire was fulfilled 2 or 3 months ago, and the night this photo was taken was the first time in 4 years the girl (17) has been allowed to stay one night with her mother. We didn't know if her heart would be open to hear the Gospel, but thankfully, she was very open and we had a wonderful time together. Praise the Lord! Pray for this girl.

Girl Behind the Wheel!

Divya (9) is behind the wheel during a recent excursion to Chennai. Don't know who the boy is, but surely he didn't know what he was getting into when the conductor put him into the same car with Divya. She is the only one who had control of the wheel during their adventure. So reminded me of the 2nd photo!

Devotions

Here we are having morning devotions during our recent excursion to Chennai. We are very thankful for a pastor named Reuben who opened his church facility for us to use. In each devotion time we have singing, sharing some from the Bible, and spending some time in prayer. Praise the Lord for precious times, but we're also trying to teach the children that we take JESUS with us wherever we go and in whatever we do. 1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:17

Helper of the Helpless

Psalms 10:14, "But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief, to repay it by Your hand. The helpless commits himself to You; You are the Helper of the fatherless." Below is Vimalamma (a widow for 4 years) from a village called Subba Reddy Colony. Because of financial problems and other issues, the cement home to the left in the photo belongs to her son, and Vimalamma is now staying in this tent. We were planning to give 50,000 rupees (a little over $600) to help her construct a small room that is more permanent, but her son is not in agreement. So now it seems she will have to stay in the tent, as she has nowhere else to stay. Please pray for our widows and elderly ministry.
