In the photo, Abhinaya (left) is with her sister, Akshaya. Abhinaya, now 13, was recently diagnosed with dengue fever. Dengue is a mosquito-borne fever that effects millions of people each year, causing the death of at 5,000 people per year. Looking online, there is a wide contrast in statistics, depending on the source. But one thing is agreed upon: it is dangerous and potentially fatal. Our Brother Raju shared with us that Abhinaya's blood platelet count had gone down to 70,000. Searching online, some sources say a 13 year old girl's proper platelet count should be more than 200,000. Her count has been gradually increasing over the last few days, and hopefully will be home soon from the hospital. Please pray for Abhinaya, as she was also diagnosed a few months ago with a thyroid problem, and she seems to be more susceptible to getting sick regularly.
