Here in the photo is Brother Marthababu praying for Akshaya (16) and her grandmother, whom Akshaya lives with. Akshaya's mother is living, but after being abandoned by Akshaya's biological father, remarried, but with the agreement that the new husband would have no responsibility for Akshaya. This took place when Akshaya was a little girl, at least 9 years or more ago. You've heard the expression, "the good, bad and the ugly"; well, this is some of the ugly that we face in ministry sometimes. Without our knowledge, Akshaya's grandmother arranged a marriage for Akshaya with a distant relative just within the last couple of weeks. Marthababu and Brother Raju (who leads the children's ministry) spent a couple of hours with both of them the other night, trying to counsel and reason with them. The grandmother is having physical problems, so it is difficult for her work as much as she needs to in order to provide for her and Akshaya (that is her reason for doing this). RHM is not currently in a position to try and help them more financially. Actually, the grandmother did the same thing with Akshaya's mother, marrying her to a relative, who ended up cheating her, stealing her property, and then leaving the family. Sadly, the grandmother is not seeking the Lord as she should, or seeking Godly counsel. Please pray for the Lord's will to be done in both of their lives. We have laid down our lives for Akshaya, showing her the love of Christ in the midst of her broken life and feelings of rejection from her mother.
