When we first began with this family in June 2021, all they were living in was a "house" with only one wall, using clothes and sheets for parts of the other walls. This house (not actually in their name yet) had small cement columns and asbestos sheets for a roof. They had no electricity, no plumbing, flooring (only dirt), and their outside bathroom had no roof or door. The girls mostly stayed at nights with a grandmother or neighbors because of the obvious danger from people, and because of snakes. This is Shivangi (mother) and her 2 twin daughters Mary (left) and Martha, 15 at the time. We APOLOGIZE that wrong information was given to us in the beginning, and we're not thinking it came from this family: we were told the girls' father had died of Covid in 2020, but in fact he had died in 2014 from a train accident. We also learned several months later that this mother also has a grown son, which was kept from us in the beginning. The Lord has done great things over the last 2 and a half years, the mother coming to Christ and being baptized, taking baptism along with Martha. Mary is waiting until she has more understanding. Both girls are in their 1st year of nursing college. With the help of our donors, and especially World Challenge, they now have walls, flooring, electricity, running water, an enclosed bathroom, and the house & property is now in their name. The son, Prem, is now married and has a little baby boy, his family also in their small home. Prem helps us a lot in the ministry as an auto rickshaw driver. A precious family, truly a "rags to riches" story, or in Biblical terms, "beauty from ashes". That truly is the ministry of our Lord JESUS (Isaiah 61:1-3). Praise the Lord!
